Instead I get Unknown Device listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" with the yellow warning icon associated with it. When I go into Device Manager, I do NOT see a VIEWCON device listed under "Sound, video, and game controllers". Sometimes it seems like the In and Out LED's will glow for a few seconds when first plugged in, but eventually they turn off and the not recognized message gets shown by Windows. The red power LED does turn on the cable. When I plug the USB Midi cable into the USB port (just the cable by itself, not connected to any musical gear on the other end yet), all I ever get is a "USB Device Not Recognized" message from Windows. I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine and one of the black looking cables shown in the instructions. Sorry to bring up this old thread but it looked like it might be the solution to my problem but I can't seem to get these directions to work for me.
